About
Austin Harvey is a Pittsburgh-based writer, editor, and podcast host with a knack for making complicated subjects feel approachable — whether that's the folklore origins of dragons, the neuroscience of ADHD, or the political violence that quietly tore through 1970s Italy.
His path to writing full-time wasn't exactly linear. He studied screenwriting at Point Park University, spent years behind a bar, and it wasn't until an ADHD diagnosis in adulthood — and a pandemic that left a lot of time for reflection — that he started putting his experiences into words and discovered that other people needed to read them.
That personal thread runs through everything he does. Over five years of professional writing, including a staff role at All That's Interesting where he authored more than 1,100 articles and hosted the History Uncovered podcast, Austin has gravitated toward stories that connect the historical and the human. His work has appeared in Discover Magazine, Giddy, IDONTMIND, and elsewhere, spanning mental health, mythology, science, and cultural history.
He's now focused on what he considers the most urgent kind of journalism: separating fact from fiction at a moment when that distinction feels harder — and more important — than ever.
